The Mayor for the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Councillor Olu Babatola, visited Go Train’s training centre in Woolwich on Wednesday 25th January, to meet learners who retrained for a new career after time out of work.

Learners told the Mayor about how they are now working in exciting new careers after spending just a few weeks improving their English, maths and IT skills and learning about customer service and other vocational skills.

The Mayor praised the work of Jobcentre Plus and Go Train in the local community and was also impressed by Go Train’s tailored training programmes to deliver jobs and provide employers with a skilled workforce.

Nigel Stead, Regional Performance Manager of Go Train, praised what learners achieved in a short period and commented, “The Major was most impressed with the positive feedback he gathered from our learners and referral partners. He was also excited to see what learners can achieve so quickly and how the impact of getting a job after learning new skills, gives people back their self-belief and confidence.”
