Job Description

An Army marches on its stomach and its your role to give soldiers a balanced and healthy diet, at home or overseas. You cater for everyone from new recruits to royalty, producing tasty meals in static kitchens or on the move in a field. Expert training teaches you how to cook nutritious meals, whatever the circumstances.

What’s so great about it?

You will work in part of a small team or as an Individual, relied upon to deliver daily meals to your colleagues.

You will gain qualifications up to a Diploma in Professional Cookery – great for future civilian caterers. Your day to day job will be the feeding of the military around the world, from meals in the field to delivering silver service dining for functions.

You will learn and develop transferable skills that will benefit you in future employment in hotel and catering industries.

You will gain experience in administration, finance, accounting, storage and distribution as well as catering skills.

You can be employed at any unit in the Army, both in The United Kingdom or Worldwide.

You learn to work under pressure delivering meals with limited ingredients and limited equipment.

There is an initial process where certain assessments will be carried out, a medical, clinical triage, career development chat, Selection Centre Fitness Test, Team Tasks, Cognitive Test… Only then when you are passed through this training will successful applicants become a Recruit In Training for the Army Reserves.

The successful Candidates will be British or Commonwealth Citizens. There is a ZERO tolerance on drugs, and all applicants MUST be physically fit age 19-43.

The hours may vary, dependent on candidate, situation, and suitability for up and coming events. As a minimum, Army Reserves will be required to carry out a minimum of 27 days per year. All is paid at time of passing through and taking Oath as Army Recruit in training.
