Job Description

Go Train are working with an Education Recruitment Agency who are looking for 5 caretakers to work within their clients schools.

The School settings: 

  • Primary schools based in the Islington area. The schools admits children from nursery to year 6
  • There are between eight & ten class rooms (which include the Nursery and Reception classes), a hall, art room and large library, other small rooms and spaces are available for intervention groups and activities
  • The external areas are large and contain play apparatus, games spaces and wild areas
  • There is also a large community building in which the school holds its Breakfast Club, After School Club, Stay and Play for Parents and Babies and classes for adults (eg ESOL)

The role

  • Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs
  • Booking outside contractors for major repair work making sure that heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly
  • Making sure that doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use checking the premises to guard against vandalism or break-ins opening up the building in the morning and locking it at the end of the day
  • Arranging chairs and tables for meetings and clearing away afterwards ordering fuel, cleaning materials, new equipment and furniture
  • Salary – £20,000 + full-time, split shift morning and afternoon
  • Starting in September, on a long term contract

The right candidate will:

  • Be responsible, honest and reliable

  • Have good verbal communication skills to deal with children and adults
  • Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation
  • Be well-organised and capable of prioritizing their own work
  • Be flexible and enjoy a varied routine as days can rarely be planned
  • Be a reliable person who is always punctual and has the ability to work on own your own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Be reasonably fit
